New Offerings This Fall!

TAP Classes!

Both Miss Kerin and Mr. Ryan embarked on their dance journey with tap, so we've eagerly anticipated the opportunity to launch our own percussive program in our new space!

At OADC, our classes typically focus on learning alignment, technique, strength, and anatomy, while exploring various dance genres. However, tap dance stands apart from other styles like lyrical, ballet, contemporary, jazz, modern, and hip hop. It offers a unique technique that diverges from the commonalities shared by these other styles.

Did you know that tap dance is often considered cross-training by many dance scientists? This is because it engages different aspects of the brain and activates different muscle groups compared to other dance forms.

Tap dancers develop a sharp sense of rhythm and timing as they create percussive sounds with their feet. This heightened rhythmic awareness not only enhances their musicality but also allows them to interpret and express a wide range of rhythms and beats through their movements.

Dance offers a myriad of benefits for adults, including physical fitness improvements such as cardiovascular health, strength, and flexibility. It serves as a stress-relieving outlet, fostering mental well-being and social connection through community and friendship. Dancing allows for creative expression, stimulating cognitive function while boosting confidence and self-esteem through the mastery of new skills. New Preschool Program!

Your 2-5 year old preschool dancer can now enroll in one of our many mini-sessions designed with flexibility in mind. Recognizing that children at this age may not be ready for a full semester commitment, each of these sessions lasts just 4 weeks and will have a specific theme; providing the perfect opportunity for your child to explore the world of dance without feeling overwhelmed.

Research has shown that short sessions offer numerous benefits for 2-4 year old dancers and align with their developmental needs. As children grow and develop, their interests may evolve rapidly. Short sessions provide the flexibility to switch between different activities, ensuring that their learning experience remains dynamic and engaging. This adaptability empowers children to explore their passions and talents while fostering a lifelong love of dance. Additionally, the reduced timeframe alleviates pressure on both the child and the parent to commit to an entire semester, making the experience more enjoyable and stress-free.

Overall, our mini-sessions not only introduce children to the joy of dance and movement, but also cultivate a positive attitude towards learning and exploration.

We have several sessions to choose from. All classes will have an enrollment limit of 4 students.
