Can Performance Experience Members opt in to select Touring trips?
The Touring Experience is a full-season commitment, and travel opportunities are reserved for Touring Members only.
Touring dancers register together in May, rehearse dedicated choreography throughout the season, and perform as a cohesive ensemble at Dance The Magic, Soul De Soul, and our New York experience. This structure ensures consistent casting, polished performances, and smooth logistics across all events.
Past attempts at "opt-in" travel created challenges with planning, choreography, and event capacity. By forming our Touring Company early, we’re able to maintain strong relationships with event partners and set dancers up for success.
Touring is intentionally designed as a “revolving door”—dancers may choose to tour one year and take a break the next. This allows flexibility between seasons, while preserving clarity and commitment within each season.
All members, regardless of level, can participate in our local performance opportunities like the Spurs Halftime, Trail of Lights, and 4th of July Parade, and will also have access to our in-house convention right here at OADC.
Do Touring Members need to attend all three trips?
Yes. Touring dancers commit to the full travel season as part of a unified cast. Each trip features performances of the same ensemble choreography, allowing the group to grow artistically and present work consistently across all venues.
To help keep costs manageable, our default travel plan includes:
– Dancers rooming in groups of three
– Rotating parent chaperones (with each family supporting one of the three trips)
This model supports bonding and independence while reducing the travel costs that can build up when attending all events as a full family. Families who wish to accompany their dancer more extensively are welcome—we’re happy to discuss what works best for you.
And when comparing value, the Touring Experience offers something special. While comparable in cost to a season of competition, it provides a more elevated and curated journey—blending high-level performance, travel, and artistic development with a more intentional focus on quality, growth, and unforgettable experiences.
Not every dancer tours every year—and that’s okay. The Touring Experience is here when the timing is right.
